Healing is reconnecting with
what is meaningful to us...

When we can talk through and explore how and why we learned to disconnect from ourselves we can learn two ways to connect and respond to our environment.

There are many things that contribute to individual well-being, like politics, economics, culture, family, lifestyle, nutrition and community that are often overlooked in health care. Social justice, being affirming of all people and identities, and creating an anti-oppressive therapy environment are core principles behind why I do what I do.

The foundation of therapy is creating a relationship where healing is possible.

I offer a genuine, warm and non-judgmental therapeutic environment. I focus on your strengths and look at your situation from a holistic point of view. You are the expert on your own life and I work alongside you in a collaborative way. You set the goals and focus of therapy and I provide the environment for healing to happen.

About Me

My journey to becoming a psychotherapist was a winding road. I have had many careers in my life and lived in many places. I found counseling when I finally realized I was my most happiest when I was connecting on a deep level with people and witnessing their own unique journeys in life. I believe our path to healing comes from learning to embrace all the parts of ourselves that scare us, and to break down our own barriers to engaging with the world in a way that is most meaningful to us.

I obtained a Master of Counseling from Regis University in Denver. I have also worked with many different types of people in wilderness and city settings both in treatment and non-treatment environments for over two decades. My experience includes but is not limited to people with disabilities, young people in the justice system, LGBTQIA+ youth, and indigenous communities.

Methods and Theories

  • Attachment theory: Looks at our early connections with caregivers/family and how that informs our relationships into adulthood. By learning about our attachment styles we can transform our capacity for creating safe and stable relationships.
  • Feminist Therapy: Focuses on how oppression and privilege impact a person’s individual well-being.
  • Eco Psychology: Looks at how our connection with the natural world impacts our mental health
  • Narrative Therapy: Examines the kinds of stories we tell ourselves, and how that shapes how we act in our lives. Narrative therapy sees the potential in reimagining these stories in a way that gives us more freedom and empowerment.
  • Somatic Therapy: Incorporates the body into mental health and acknowledges that the body stores memories, emotions and traumas. Somatic therapy uses awareness and movement to unravel the wisdom of our bodies.
